About Me
I am currently a third year Decorative Arts student at Nottingham Trent University, specialising in Textiles and Surface Design. I am extremely enthusiastic about my course and pride myself on the work that I have produced.
I love everything about hand embroidery, and find the process so soothing. For me the best technique of drawing is continuous line drawing, it is so free and I love the messy hand made feel to it. Free machine embroidery is a great way of transferring line drawings from paper to fabric.
I have always been in love with Textiles, using all kinds of fabrics and processes to discover some exciting new techniques.
I often use unconventional materials as I feel they are more of a challenge and they really push my creativity!
A lot of inspiration for my designs and projects is taken from nature. I grew up in Cumbria, so being a country girl means being around a lot of wildlife. I love bringing the outside in and introducing fresh designs throughout all my products
Over the past term I have been introduced to disperse dyes and heat transferring, this has become my new favourite printing method because it is so quick and has the same handmade feel that I adore so much.
