Textured Jacket Collection

For my current project I have focused on creating a collection of textured jackets suitable for high fashion boutiques. I challenged myself to create the jackets completely out of upcycled items. I visited many car boot sales, charity shops and had a lot of items donated to me. Upcycled items are often seen as messy and unstylish, I wanted to change this misconception, and create some high fashion pieces. Upcycling is an amazing way of repurposing unwanted/old items, any one can do it, all it takes is a little bit of imagination!

I started this project outside, looking at flowers and textures in nature. My biggest inspiration is definitely flowers. I love to bring the nature into my work, the bright colours and different shapes can really help create some brilliant ideas. Texture is so important to me because it helps us define objects, my aim was to created textured jackets that people couldn't help but touch!

I then developed my ideas, looking at existing products and different textile techniques. Using unusual objects can really push your imagination to create something that you would of never thought of before.
